more than conquerors
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
...Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
...No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, heither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:28, 35, 37-9
At the end of everything I do, be it in relationships or work, I just want to be able to say I did my best, and I left the rest to Him.
Sometimes we hang on to the possibilities of things that seem impossible to attain, sometimes we believe that somehow we still stand a chance, that somehow by grace or by divine intervention or whatever you call it, we will get what we want. And sometimes God gives it to us, while sometimes He doesn't. This year I've learnt to no longer be disappointed, and give thanks in all circumstances. I've learnt to trust completely in His plan for me and my family, and though I don't always understand why things happen the way they do, why I feel compelled to make certain decisions, or why bad things happen to good people, there's no longer frustration, or confusion, or anger against God, but instead there's this calmness and peace that envelopes me in the promise that He made in 1 Corinthians, that "No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it." And that really rocks.

I think being a girl is very inconvenient. That is, on the premise that most girls are very sensitive to what other people, especially guys, say (and don't say), and tend to instinctively read too much into what others say (and don't say). Alternatively, you could say that thinking too much is inconvenient. Alternatively, you could say that I am hypersensitive and I should stop trying to read other people so much.
I need to stop taking just about everything so seriously. =.=

of olympiads and birthdays
I am giving myself excuses not to start on ToK. So here goes, to make up for the long hiatus since blogger knows when.
Bio olympiad - 4h of guessing was pretty fun, like I learnt stuff I never noticed when I watched Happy Feet, Finding Nemo, and those dino books when I was a kid. If I even read them. Like, did you know penguins have hair and not feathers? And that they're the intermediate between birds and Man? And okay I bet everyone knows this, but dinos walked the Earth 65 mil years ago! Haha. Fun stuff lah, even if I didn't get into 2nd round. At least I don't have to dissect the very insects I have a phobia of, and I can still eat crab. xD Congrats Shaun, William, and Jianxiang! (:
Chem olympiad - Haha this sucked. No 200 mcq to guess patterns from =.= At least I can confidently say I can get above 2/60 for the mcq (: But they had this really weird question, like which element is not named after a place - Californium, Berkium (?), Fermium, and something else. Haha I knew A was out luh (right? :/), but. Yeah. Then throughout the rest of the time I was doing structured questions, I had nothing in my head except 3 words.
wah lau eh.
Yup. Like, how ionic equilibria (which I actually studied thoroughly? Okay pretty much thorougly.), electrochem, analytical chem, didn't come out, whereas gas law and thermodynamics and periodicity (which I totally forgot) and kinetics (like, derive whatever blah involving integration I think which I obviously didn't know how to do since sec 4 is a long time ago and my math sucks, and use a formula which I memorised the night before but obviously forgot:Ae=2.303R(T1T2/T2-T1)lg(k2/k1) became Ae=2.303R(T1T2/T2-T1)-ln(k2/k1), and a lot of other formulas I made up on my own ;D And if 1M is 1 mol per dm3, what is 1N?) Yes. Chem oly was fun like that. And I gave 1 line answers for 5 marks questions and I left pages blank :D And I made up reactions for organic chem. Haha. Whatever, CoP looks good too :D
But seriously, no point studying for olys. Unless you start from the start of the year. Alternatively, learn from my mistakes and just revise the Year5/sec4 stuff. (:
And thanks to everyone who smsed me/posted a wallpost/gave me stuff for my birthday, thanks for making it a really happy one (: And also to daryl brenda alex darren amanda for the surprise, it meant a lot cos I was in school the whole day (: Thanks!
But haha my sister's card was really the best. Classic. But it's too lewd to put here! But the decent bit's on my profile pic (:
Okay yes, I will attempt to glimpse order in the chaos of events now. I will stop slacking and not open the Code Blue folder until uh, dinner. Which is 1 hour away (: YES.

how to kill monster ants.
Recently, a nest of big, black ants invaded my kitchen. They made their nest in the dishdryer, the part that collects dripoff water. And if you left a drink carton in the rubbish, the next morning it would be totally black because it would be covered with black ants.
After destroying the nest, the ants returned a day later in full force. They attacked anything - empty, overturned cups that had been rinsed (maybe they drink tapwater), the kitchen table, the table cloth, the plates..but they didn't exactly attack our food :/ Funny guys, huh.
These ants are freaks of mother nature. You can't squash them, cos they just lie dead then after awhile if you try to wipe them up, they get up and start crawling on your hand which is super, super DISGUSTING UGHHHH. You can't use a tablecloth to smash them and wipe them up like you can do with the small cuter versions, cos their smashed bodies just stick to the cloth and can't be washed off. You've gotta use a toothpick and unstick them, which just wastes a lot of time. And then it's hard to vacuum them, cos I suspect their legs have adhesive quality or something, you've gotta go over them a few times before they get sucked up. I bet they're still living inside the vacuum bag. Neither can you drown them in water, they just float to the top, swim around, and climb out of the bucket. So you can't flush them down the toilet either.
BUT alas, these monster ants can be exterminated! I discovered that if I leave a wet table cloth on the table, very soon it will draw all the ants to it. Then I pick it up and dump it in a full pot of water and set it to boil, and TADAA you have your ant bodies floating around on the top! Now, take a ladle and scoop all those disgusting, disgusting ants and wash them down the sink. Hopefully they don't regenerate.
Yup that's how I spent the 3rd day of my proper holidays (: And there's still half a day left! Maybe I'll exterminate the ants tonight if they come back again.

memory making-
it's only when you're about to lose the one person that you treasure the most that you realise that every minute spent becomes a memory. and then everything is just about making every minute a precious memory because that's the only thing you can give.
